Welcome everyone!

Welcome everyone!

Finally, I am stepping from the stone age into the virtual modern world to share, celebrate, discuss and connect around the art and science of acupuncture, the elegant system of Chinese medicine, healing, and health. I look forward to posting about the philosophy behind acupuncture, some of the magic that happens in the treatment room, and tools for healthy living, moving, eating, and other elements of self-care.

Let the blogging begin!

Starting with a simple introduction…

I am Susan Wilmoth, an acupuncturist in Portland, Oregon. I began my practice in 2007 and I love what I do.

I marvel at the body, how we regenerate, and how we can influence that process and our lives. I love working with patients to improve health, relieve pain, facilitate recovery, relieve stress, create ease, and to help them step into a more inspired relationship with their body and self-care. What inspires me? Why do I do what I do? What do I want for my patients and how do I accomplish it? Click here to read more!

I bring to my work a fascination with anatomy (both western and Chinese anatomy), a lifelong love of movement, and a deep respect for humanity. My style of treatment is extremely gentle with the needles and firm with massaging but always tailored in response to each individual. Last week I was massaging a patient’s shoulder when he said, “for such a tiny person, you have quite a surprising vice-grip!” I’m pretty sure it was a compliment and I’m positive he got a lot of pain relief. I weave a strong anatomy-based orientation with my knowledge of Chinese medicine to offer an uncommonly integrated approach.

I love working with people.

Some of my favorite populations to treat are as follows:

  • people with neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • active people that ask a lot of their body but want to take good care of it too (from pro athletes to carpenters, avid gardeners, and fun-havers)
  • people struggling with stress, anxiety, and fatigue that are in need of something grounding, restorative, and nourishing
  • apprehensive first-timers to acupuncture

Thank you for stopping in!
