This is a unique opportunity to participate in a learning exploration led by two seasoned hospice acupuncturists— Gwen LoVetere and Susan Wilmoth. We will focus on cultivating the skills and inner resources needed to serve hospice patients. This will be a participatory deep-dive learning experience, exploring a range of topics, including the following:

  • Working in the context of hospice care
  • Gleaning information from patients in advanced disease processes— pulses, touch, & more
  •  Modalities we have found to be useful in working with this unique population including Acupuncture, Acupressure, Teishin and Enshin
  •  Mindfulness-based self inquiry of how we relate with death, dying, and loss and how that informs the care we give at the bedside
  •  Tending to one’s own nervous system while caring for others
  • What it’s like to lose every patient & tools for metabolizing loss in a healthy way

In January of 2019, Susan & Gwen began leading a 6 month Hospice Acupuncture Group Mentorship, to which the response was overwhelmingly positive. This weekend training was created to make much of the content of the mentorship course accessible to those for whom an ongoing class is not practical or preferred.

Testimonials from participants in the  2019 Hospice
Acupuncture Mentorship Groups

This mentorship enriched my experience of living and led me to new ways of thinking about and being with all my patients, not just those at the end of their life. This class is a rare resource with depth, inquiry, and profound learning about what it is to be a compassionate provider in hospice and in healthcare in general.
– Kate Busby, L.Ac.
This mentorship was extremely helpful for me in my work with hospice patients. I learned practical skills for working with patients, for my own self-care, and resources to draw on. I highly recommend this class for anyone currently working in or interested in hospice or palliative care.
– Carly Samish, L.Ac.
For any practitioner that has interest in end of life care, this mentorship is an essential tool for starting or supporting that journey. The thought, care, and compassion Gwen and Susan share in their presence is beyond powerful and a true joy to experience, as well as getting so many valuable resources for the spiritual, emotional, and physical process of being an end of life practitioner.
– Jackie Schrempp, ND
Beautiful class. Very heartfelt and real. Susan and Gwen’s different energies complemented each other very well. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and passion for this work so authentically.
– Cita Oudjik, LAc.
After taking Susan and Gwen’s Hospice Mentorship Course, I feel empowered by their wisdom and shared experiences about how important acupuncture is in end of life care. How Chinese medicine and our knowledge of holistic care is imperative in integrative end of life and palliative care.
